Paving the way for economic equality and empowerment

Through community programs at the Lugari Community Resource Centre, women learn the practical and theoretical skills they need to succeed in their own entrepreneurial projects.

These lessons teach participants skills that empower them to secure employment and exercise independence.

Learn More

“Empowering women to participate fully in economic life across all sectors is essential to building stronger economies, achieving internationally agreed goals for development and sustainability, and improving the quality of life for women, men, families and communities''

- UN Women, “Women’s Empowerment Principles,” 2011

Teaching Gender Equality

Our project approach enhances the participation of women in the community by highlighting their voices and centering gender equality.

Participants are taught that all human beings, regardless of gender, are free to develop their personal abilities and make decisions without the limitation of stereotypes and prejudices. They also learn about the fundamental role of equity in communities.

WHISCA knows that empowered women strengthen and lead others around them.

Our Micro-Enterprise project has been shown to increase women’s community engagement, social capital, and confidence.
